Build My Rank Is A Scam? Maybe...
64I have been using Build my Rank for about a month. Maybe I am not the most qualified reviewer because of this fact, but I still have a lot to say about Build My Rank. I'll start with the positives, because there are many, then I will go to their one, major pitfall. You'll want to read all the way to the end, because the pitfall may have you thinking twice about forking over your hard earned cash each month, but then again, I continue to use it.
Build My Rank Is Awesome Because
It is a large index of high PR sites that you post short articles to with a link back to your site. Some say PR doesn't matter, but it does when you are attaining links. Of course, many of these high PR sites will drop during the next update, but we will have still gotten their link juice at their peak, and our PR might go up because of it.
It is so easy to use. I am used to using PostRunner, which was previously the easiest tool to use out there. Build My Rank is much, much faster. I copy, paste and click to add another. You won't get in and out of an article directory site much faster.
I like the 150 word set up. Some say one link per article passes more link juice than two. I tend to agree with that logic. The article is more focused, and my writers churn out more of them.
It has built my rank. It works. It works well. I am sitting in the prime spot in Google for a number of keywords that I have used mostly Build My Rank for, and I have only been using it for a month. It is a powerful tool.
My Indexing Rate Chart On My Build My Rank Dashboard
Build My Rank Is A Scam Because...
First, the definition of scam, according to Meriam Webster:
"a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation"
Thus, I must in all honesty say that Build My Rank is a scam. They lie consistently about their index rates. My index rates are around 80%, according to Google. That is, when I use their own button to check to see if my posts are indexed, eight out of ten are not. Yet, they have marked them off as indexed and claim that my index rate is around 97%.
Here's the story. I am new to internet marketing. I am still in my first year. Am I making money? Yes. Are there others that are newer? Yes. Do I know much? Not really. But I do know that a page that is not indexed carries no weight with Google. That is why they say they have such a high indexing rate, because everyone knows that if a post is not indexed, it does not help.
So, about these index rates... I had noticed that I had a lot of posts marked as not indexed for a long time. Then, one day when I logged into my dashboard, I saw that they had put up the months stats for the indexing rates. My indexing rates were marked as higher than the site's average. So, I started checking. The one that caught the most attention was the first post I had submitted. Now, I have submitted over 200, so I don't track all of my posts carefully, but I noticed that my first post had been marked as not indexed a few days earlier. When I went back and checked it again, it was marked as indexed even though it still wasn't indexed.
I checked a few more, and lo, there were a bunch of posts marked as indexed even though they weren't indexed. These coincided with the amount of posts that were marked as not indexed a few days earlier. It was like someone went through and marked all of my not indexed posts as being indexed so that they could say my indexing rate was higher. If that isn't a scam, what is?
Join Build My Rank (Through My Affiliate Link)
So, after all that, why do I think that you should join (through my affiliate link above)? An 80% index rate is kind of crummy. I am not much of a salesman. But, like I said, I have a bunch of webpages at #1 thanks to Build My Rank, and I am raking in some money, so it works. I wish they didn't lie about the index rates, and I have alerted the admin to the problem. I hope they look into it. Even if they don't they are a powerful link building tool, and I am using them almost exclusively at this point with great results. My wallet is thanking me for that.
UPDATE: I take it all back!
I do, I take it all back. I have had a correspondence with the admin at Build My Rank. I will say that he was a little short and had a slightly unprofessional tone, but I did accuse him of lying, so....
Anyway, he sent me the links to the posts that had been marked as indexed even though their tool was telling me that they weren't indexed. Indeed, they are indexed. Their tool, which anonymously Googles a sentence in quotes from the article, doesn't pick them all up. I was actually pretty impressed. I checked in yahoo and Bing as well and wasn't able to find them. Any tips on how to find a post without the URL if Googling a segment in quotes doesn't work?
This does show a downside to Build My Rank, though. If you can't find your posts, you can't bookmark them. From my experience, bookmarking is the most time efficient way to ensure that the posts stay indexed. So, I can only bookmark the ones that are already strong enough to be picked up from their little tool. I know that Build My Rank tweets them or something, but I want to do more.
Ah well, I was afraid he was going to cancel my account there for a minute. he seemed pretty angry about accusing him of lying.
NEW UPDATE: 01-16-11
I've been following the indexing rate pretty closely and there is some pretty scammy stuff going on. They are misleading you about their index rates and that is a fact.
They mark the posts as indexed as soon as they possibly can, often when the post is still on the homepage of the site. Then, when it gets moved to the back pages, the individual post that your link is on is often not indexed at all.
From what I have recorded, there is about an 90% index rate.
Again, this isn't bad, and my ranks have been improved from this service, but the idea of a publish and forget service is not the reality. You need to bookmark the individual URLs as soon as possible or the post may never be indexed. Still, I recommend this service and am paying for it myself.
Their index checking tool is glitchy. You click it once and it often doesn't work. Click it a few times. Sometimes the URL isn't indexed, but some of the text may be in the feeds that they submit it to. You can find the URL to bookmark it this way.
